An Exercise from Mister Rogers
There's at least ONE person that helped you become who you are, yes?
If you're caught in the swirl right now, take 10 seconds of quiet to let those people come to mind - the ones who made sacrifices to move you forward in your career and life.
It's easy to get caught up in everything "you" - your grievances, your concerns, and your stuff. Instead, face outward.
When he earned a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Emmys, Mister Rogers said to think of the people who helped us become who we are - those who have cared about us and wanted what was best for us in life - and how pleased they would be to know the difference we feel they've made.
Perhaps dedicating the rest of this quarter, day, or hour to "those people" will yield the better results, attitude, and outlook you seek.
Certainly there's at least ONE person that comes to mind, yes?
